Evaluation of impacts by fishing and diving activities on benthic communities in the Cinque Terre MPA

This project fell within a framework of coordinated actions carried out by the University of Genoa and the Cinque Terre MPA. In this specific action, a thorough u/w survey was carried out in both A and B zones of the MPA. The survey aimed to: i) evaluate the impact of fishing activities by enumerating the lost fishing gear encountered; ii) characterise the encountered biocoenoses recording visual and video/photographic data. GAIA acted as a subcontractor and it role was to perform the u/w survey. The project was carried out in 2007-2008. Further information is available on the Cinque Terre MPA website (Italian only).
